A W-9 is only for US-based suppliers. OUTTANS is foreign-owned — it operates as a single-member LLC that is a disregarded entity owned by a non-US individual, so for US tax purposes it is treated as a foreign supplier. That means the correct form for your records is the W-8BEN, the IRS "Certificate of Foreign Status of Beneficial Owner." It serves the same purpose as a W-9 on your end: it documents our tax status for your accounts-payable file. The key difference for you is that payments to a foreign supplier are generally not subject to 1099 reporting, so you would not issue us a 1099. The W-8BEN is the form the IRS requires us to provide, and it keeps your vendor file fully compliant.
